Chahal’s Divorce Truth: What Really Went Wrong with Dhanashree

The spinner of the Indian team, Yuzvendra Chahal, has opened up about his divorce with Dhanashree in the recent Raj Somani podcast. He discussed the reasons and the mental health after the divorce. 

It was the first time he was openly talking about his divorce. He revealed that it happened in Mumbai’s Family Court on March 20, 2025, and was emotionally exhausting. The weeks leading to it became darker than ordinary. He said he barely slept, dealing with just two hours of rest per night, and his mind was completely fogged, affecting even his cricket performance.

I shared with my friends that I felt like ending it all. I needed a break from cricket because mentally I wasn’t there on the field,” Chahal disclosed. He also told that he was using the mask in public places to hide the pain he was feeling inside and pretending that everything was normal. 

Chahal clarified that this divorce was not sudden—it was months in the making. Career pressure, lack of compromise, and clashing life goals slowly weighed down on their marriage. While both tried to fix things, the tension eventually became irreparable. 

During the final hearing, Chahal wore a notable “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” T-shirt. Social media erupted, but he says it wasn’t for drama—he wore it as a subtle response, a message meant for the other side.

Speculation about his close friendship with RJ Mahvash surfaced online, with some calling her a ‘homewrecker.’ Chahal completely denied his relationship with Mahvash, and told her just a friend whom he could trust. He gave the credit to Mahvash and one of his friends Pratik Pawar, who has supported him in his tough time.
