Brook was picked by Delhi Capitals for ?6.25 crore in the 2025 IPL auction. But on March 9, he pulled out of the tournament. The main reason behind his name withdrawal is England commitments. This is not the first time he took his name back.

He also skipped IPL 2024, citing personal reasons (his grandmother passed away). Two years in a row. And that’s where the trouble starts.

BCCI has a strict rule—if an overseas player enters the auction, gets picked, and then backs out (without an injury or medical reason), they face a two-season ban. Brook now can’t play in IPL 2025 and 2026.
