On the second day of the India vs England 2nd test, India played really well. Captain Shubman Gill made a huge score, and because of him, India is now in a strong position. They made 587 runs in their first innings. After that, the bowlers also did a good job and England lost 3 wickets early. Now England still needs 510 runs just to reach India’s score.
Solid Start to Day 2

India started the day with 310 runs and 5 wickets down. Gill was already batting on 114 and Jadeja was also set on 41. Both played calmly first and then slowly started to play shots. They didn’t lose any wickets for a long time and made a partnership of more than 200 runs.

Jadeja played well but got out for 89. He missed his century. Then Sundar came to bat and supported Gill nicely. They both added another 100+ runs together. Sundar made 42 runs. Gill kept going and finally reached 200. After guiding to a good position, he got out on 269. It was his first double century in test cricket. After that, the rest of the team could not add much, and the team was all out for 587.

England’s Woes Begin Early

When England came to bat, they started badly. Akash Deep, who replaced Bumrah, took two wickets in the same over. He sent Duckett and Pope back without any runs. Then Siraj got Crawley out too. So they were 25 for 3 very quickly.

After that, Joe Root and Brook tried to save the team. They didn’t let any more wickets fall and made more than 50 runs together. At the end of the day, England was 77 for 3, still far behind India.

What to Expect on Day 3

India has already laid a solid foundation with a massive first innings total and three early wickets. On Day 3, they will aim to wrap up England’s innings under 250 and enforce the follow-on. Given the pitch is still offering some help to pacers, and the Indian bowling attack is in rhythm, it’s not an impossible task.

England, on the other hand, will rely heavily on Root and Brook to dig them out of this hole. Their aim will be to survive the morning session without any damage and reduce the deficit. Whether they can do it remains to be seen, but Day 3 is set up beautifully for another gripping battle.

It wasn’t just the big score. He broke some major records, like becoming the youngest Indian to hit a double hundred in Tests outside Asia. It was a knock to remember.

After starting strong on Day 1, Gill and Jadeja built a solid stand. Sundar joined in later. These partnerships pushed India to 587 — a huge total in any Test match.

England lost early wickets and finished Day 2 at 77 for 3. With a 500+ run trail, they’ll need a big fightback to stay in the game.
