IPL 2025 to Resume from May 17: Full Schedule, Playoffs & Foreign Players Update

After a sudden break because of the India-Pakistan tensions, IPL 2025 is finally making a return. The matches will start again on May 17. It will start with the game of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru – and then the remaining games will be played.

Everything came to a halt during the DC vs PBKS match earlier. The match didn’t finish and was called off. After that, the whole tournament was suspended for a week. But now, the BCCI has shared the fresh schedule for the rest of the matches and the playoffs too.

Updated IPL 2025 Schedule: New Dates and Venues

Talking about the dates — from May 17 to May 27, the remaining league matches will be played. There are two double-headers — one on May 18 and another on May 25. Also, the PBKS vs DC match which was supposed to happen in Dharamshala will now be held in Jaipur on May 24.

Now, after this, playoff matches will start. Dates are fixed, but the venues haven’t been confirmed yet:

• Qualifier 1: May 29
• Eliminator: May 30
• Qualifier 2: June 1
• Final: June 3

Current Standings: Who’s Leading the Race?

Currently, the Gujarat Titans (GT) is leading the points table with 16 points in the 11 games they have played. RCB also have 16 points from 11 games, but their net run rate is slightly less, so they are in second place. PBKS and MI are in the top 4, but have to win their upcoming games to save their place for the play-offs. 

Delhi, KKR, and LSG still have a chance. It depends on how they play and how others lose or win. On the other hand, SRH, RR, and CSK are out now. Their playoff hopes are officially over.

Will Foreign Players Return for IPL 2025’s Remaining Matches?

For the foreign players — when the league got paused, BCCI told overseas players to go home if they wanted. Some left, some stayed. Now, those who were in India will play again. But some, mostly from Australia and South Africa, might not come back due to WTC Final preparations.

Cricket Australia has left it to their players to decide whether they want to go back for IPL or start their WTC final preparation and later join it.
