Sanju Samson on CSK’s Radar: Could There Be a Mega Trade with Ruturaj?

The IPL trade window is open, and this time, it’s Sanju Samson who’s caught everyone’s attention. Word is that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are keen on bringing the Rajasthan Royals captain into their camp. While there’s been no official talk between the franchises yet, someone from the CSK side did mention they’re seriously thinking about it — if Sanju becomes available.

Now, both Samson and CSK’s current captain Ruturaj Gaikwad have been retained at ?18 crore each for the upcoming season. So naturally, there’s a lot of noise around whether a direct trade between the two could actually happen. It sounds big — because it is.

Why Would CSK Want Sanju?

It’s simple. Sanju ticks many boxes. He’s a solid Indian top-order batter, keeps wickets, and knows how to lead a side. He’s played some brilliant knocks over the years and even led RR to the IPL final in 2022. CSK might be looking at him as a leader for the future — someone who’s already proved himself under pressure.

Though Ruturaj has just started as captain and CSK has backed him, the franchise also knows how to make bold moves when needed. If Sanju’s available, they might just go for it.

What Makes This Deal Complicated

Rajasthan isn’t going to let Sanju go that easily. He’s been part of their setup for years and has done well with the bat. But at the same time, they now have Dhruv Jurel — a young and exciting wicketkeeper who’s shown promise. So if a big enough offer comes in, maybe they’ll consider.

Trades in IPL aren’t that simple though. Players can’t be traded more than once in a season, and any move needs to get a green light from BCCI and the player himself. Rajasthan’s owner Manoj Badale will take the final call, and so far, there’s been no word from him.

If this trade does happen, it could shake up the IPL scene in a big way. Fans from both sides are already talking — and waiting to see what comes next.
